Wise Mentor Apprentice Partnership
WiseMAP is old men and women helping new men and women become great men and women through hands-on, real-world experience in technology, agriculture, hospitality, recreation, construction trades, and entrepreneurial business development in an earn-while-you-learn environment.
Wise Mentor Apprentice Partnership is a vision that has been almost 10 years in the making. This concept is based on the passage in the 2nd chapter of Paul’s letter to his mentee, Titus, about “elder men” and “elder women” being respect-worthy examples for “new [teen] men” and “new [teen] women” to follow. (Titus 2:1-8)
WiseMAP will operate as a private career, technology, and trades mentorship academy for high school aged teens that combines contemporary curriculum with traditional mentorship strategies practiced throughout history. Online and in-person curriculum will be used to teach state mandated coursework. In parallel, the program will create an environment that enlists retired and semi-retired specialists to act as mentors for ambitious teen men and women who are interested in developing real-world career skills. The combination of senior adults and teen adults will help both groups develop span-generational communication skills and respect for each other’s abilities, experience, and passion while teaching teens the soft skills needed for success.
The goal of WiseMAP is to turn out well-balanced graduates who have completed both high school curriculum and certification programs that allow them to go straight into the workforce. This includes such achievements as certifications in fields like technology, AI, and digital media, or real-world work experience in construction trades, business planning and operation, entrepreneurship, and other fields. This will equip them to establish careers in their desired fields.
Experienced mentors and interested apprentices will be solicited initially in areas including landscape and golf course maintenance, golf cart, tractor, and landscape equipment maintenance, fruit and nut tree husbandry, fruit and vegetable gardening, landscape plumbing installation and maintenance, electrical maintenance, restaurant and hospitality, recreation and fitness, online and direct marketing, business management, computer technology, software, and AI.
